September: Sweet home…Alberta!

Kitesurfing Alberta

After putting over 12,000km on the car this summer, I have decided that my location of choice this September is home….in Alberta and the prairies.

September in Alberta brings intense winds and some warm weather, especially in the south. I will be mostly heading to Keho and Old Man River Dam, with some hope of a weekend at Abraham Lake in the beautiful Canadian Rocky Mountains.

To add to the fun, here are some kitesurfing events not to be missed: (1) “Expression Session” mid-September at Keho Lake (Alberta); (2) “2017 Provincials” competition by the Saskatchewan Wind Riders on September long weekend; (3) The Manitoba gang hosts its annual event (name?) on the weekend of September 23rd.

No break for me in September!

August: Oh Canada!

kitesurfing Nitinat

August brings warm weather and great kiting across Canada. My favorite place in Western Canada is Nitinat on the Vancouver Island; you most likely will find me there at some point for an early morning foiling session. At the end of July, Nitinat will host their 2017 WindFest. An event not to be missed which is hosted by the local crew; you will see some spectacular strapless prodigies out there.

Eastern Canada has also some great spots such as the Magdalen Islands and Prince Edward Island. I have never been there but some of my friends will be spending some time at those two spots.

Enjoy the warm weather in our Canadian land, folks!
